The idea of the apostle Paul, why it is exactly this which takes place, what is required from us, in order to be embraced by the love of Jesus Christ, is not completely clearly expressed in the translation of the King James Version. In original Greek the apostle writes: the love of Christ grasps us, krinantas touto, who understood that One died for all.
Saint Jerome, translating this text in the Latin language, underlines even more this aspect: in the Vulgate these words sound: " our aestimantes hoc ". This verb means "to estimate". So, this is what it is all about: the love of Christ constrains us, fills all our life, when we estimate the greatness of His sacrifice, when we understand, realize that we really all died in Him.
Besides, it is important to acknowledge it as being a fait accompli. Do not argue, looking for a reason in a religious phenomenon, but consider, understand that it already took place and, as a historic fact, has a direct relationship with us. That’s the only way we can receive this love, without which, life loses the support.
