NOTES for Isa 12:1-6

Amid the prophetic denunciations, we suddenly find a prophecy about the coming King, filled with the Spirit, in whose Kingdom there will no longer be hostility either among animals or among people. But God had just been rebuking His people! Someone might say that He is inconsistent or unjust: once He has rebuked them, He must also punish them. Yet Scripture tells us that God’s love is stronger than human sin: in His mercy, God comes not to the righteous but to sinners.
