NOTES for Jo1 3:2

The apostle John gives a very understandable analogy with our human infancy. When we are born, we are already "human babies", although we know almost nothing of what man can to do. Nothing is yet known about us: who shall we be? All this develops and appears gradually. But besides, it is very important that in the process of our growth, of our maturation we meet and communicate with other people - so we learn what it is like to be a man. If this doesn’t happen, then our "humaniform" doesn’t come true (all real and not invented stories).

Exactly as our Christian life. In baptism we died and were born again as God’s children, and we now live, although still babies. We still don’t understand too much, who we shall be when we grow up, but with confidence in God's graciousness we want to be similar to Him. For that we meet with Him, we communicate with Him – for the moment " through a glass, darkly" - but we know that will come such a moment, when there will be a meeting "face to face", and if we go successively to this meeting, then we shall enter " in the plenitude of the Christlike age ".
