NOTES for Act 9:32-43
Notice that Peter's words in v. 40 and Jesus Christ's words in Mark 5:41 differ by a single letter! More generally, one can see many parallels here with the miracle of raising Jairus' daughter, not to mention the episode with Aeneas, the healing of a paralyzed man. By making these accounts so similar, Luke emphasizes that the divine presence which formerly acted through Jesus now acts in His Church. Peter says this directly to Aeneas: Jesus Christ heals you. Again and again, in the biblical narratives about the early Church and in later traditions down to our own day, we learn that Christ is alive and actively present in this world through those who carry out His will.
