NOTES for Zec 6:1-15
The prophecy of the BRANCH, one of the prophecies concerning the Savior’s coming into the world, is preceded by a vision of the heavenly spirits who stand before God and concludes with a list of several human names, apparently Temple servants who are to preserve the priestly crowns. It is as though the very composition of the prophetic account gives visible expression to the thought that the Savior, inseparable from the Father, is to unite heaven and earth, the spiritual world and the human world.
The prophecy also speaks of people who will come from distant lands to the Temple to take part in building it, but there is one important condition for their coming: those whom the prophet addresses must listen to the voice of the Lord.
If our activity in the Church bears no fruit and those around us do not respond to our preaching, we would do well to ask ourselves whether we are sufficiently attentive to the words of the Lord and the Scripture He inspired.
