NOTES for Mat 27:24
Are we not moving backward, are we not denying Jesus Christ by refusing to fight for Him? We should obviously be afraid of this and attentively overwatch ourselves. No matter where this fight can be manifested, more often it is easy to wash our hands and think besides that nothing depends on us! How it is difficult to say openly that the discourser is wrong, that different versions are possible - it is easier to accept! How difficult it is to declare in front of God that there are inadmissible and shameful things! As it is difficult to say openly “yes He died and resurrected and I believe that" All these assertions imply that the interlocutor makes a mistake on something very important and such opposition can offend him up to the bottom of the soul. But there are nevertheless things on which we have no possibility to move backward, we can only accept our own inactivity, because the Lord already told us " whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven" (Mt 10:33).
