NOTES for Hos 6:1-2
Why the fallen man remembers God, only when he is bad? Isn’t anything good that reminds us of God? God indeed created the world, according to the word of the biblical writer "very good". Only that we, as fallen people, are inclined to forget it. And we remember of God as a master, to whom we phone, when something is broken at home and we need an urgent repair.
Certainly, it is better all the same to remember of God like that, than not to remember Him at all. That is maybe why He leaves to us our own fate, when we forget Him: then we persuade ourselves easily and fast from our own experience how much He is necessary for us. But, unfortunately, such relationships do not please Him too much. Because after all, it is here about forced and purely utilitarian relationships: If everything is well in our life, God is not necessary for us, as much that we could even not remember Him. But He wants constant and deep relationships with us, based not in needs, but in love.
And uses every chance to establish these relationships, even the one which in itself guarantees nothing: indeed, even if He will intervene in a situation and will help us, there is no assurance that once after everything will be good again for us, we shall not forget Him until the following big problem. And all the same each of His intervention in our life remains a chance. A chance that it will become for us, the beginning of a new relationship with Him. And the beginning of our way into the Kingdom.
