NOTES for Heb 1:1-12
In the Letter to the Hebrews the apostle explains, in the language of Jewish law and through the images of the law, that Jesus is the Son of God. And that He took part in the creation of the world on an equal footing with the Father. And in Christ's words from the Gospel we hear a humble and at the same time absolutely firm reminder that He is lord of the Sabbath. And on the Sabbath He heals. And He asks: is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil? To save life or to destroy it? And He hears no answer.
This question is addressed to us as well. It is unusual to set aside a day of the week for doing good works, for visiting the sick, visiting parents and grandparents, devoting our time to works of peace and attention. And if such an attitude becomes practical and constant, then He will allow this day to become important and useful for the healing of our hearts and the strengthening of our faith.
