NOTES for Isa 17:1-14
In this chapter the true meaning of the Lord's judgment over the pagan nations is revealed to us. He punishes them not out of a desire for revenge, but so that in the end they will turn from their idols to the true God. Often severe trials help an individual person, or an entire nation, recognize sin and come to faith. We too need to treat trials and failures as a means of growing in faith and hope in God.
