NOTES for Isa 34:1-35:10

If God intervenes in what happens in this world, the consequences of such intervention are truly cosmic. This is what we read today in Isaiah. But why did none of this happen? Why was the prophecy not fulfilled? After all, so many centuries have passed since then. Because it is being fulfilled. We are inside the fulfillment of this prophecy, not judging it from outside. It is very difficult to make out a process when one is inside it. God has carried out and is carrying out His intervention, and the final result of this intervention will be the destruction of this world (ch. 34) and its subsequent transformation (ch. 35), as Isaiah prophesies about it and as the apostle John the Theologian describes it in the book of Revelation.
