NOTES for Exo 29:1-18
Priests bear a special ministry. But the text of Scripture does not tell us about ideal, spiritual beings without blemish. On the contrary, the Bible does not hide from us the human qualities of those clothed with such a ministry. Moreover, the first sacrifice at the ordination of Aaron and his sons is a sacrifice for sin, the sin that afflicts every heart.
God calls ordinary people to serve, people endowed with every possible human quality, bad and good. He chooses them not because they are strong and sinless, but because in His mercy He draws every person to Himself, allowing him to hear His voice and see His face.
