NOTES for Ki1 18:20-39
In today's Old Testament reading, the prophet Elijah addresses each of us. So then, who is god in our life: the Lord, or someone else, or something else? How long will we limp on both knees, trying to live by the principle "both ours and yours," trying to combine the incompatible: service to God and indulgence of our own whims?
To turn to the Lord, the Israelites in today's reading needed a visible miracle: fire from heaven. Will we, who believe in Christ's resurrection and partake of His Body and Blood, be able to say with all our hearts that the Lord is God in our life?
