NOTES for Deu 25:1-19
How accustomed we have become to the thought that God loves us! We even count it to our credit that we allow Him to love us “as we are”! But does His love for us really give us the right to do whatever we want, to disregard Him (and thereby humiliate Him), and to put His love to the test by committing every kind of wrongdoing? Why are we not afraid of being abhorrent before God? It is worth considering what it is like to see something abhorrent in the person one loves! Perhaps we should try not to want to be abhorrent, so that our wrongdoing occurs only by mistake, rather than by conscious choice.
