NOTES for Мк 6:45-56
The evangelist speaks of the disciples’ hardened hearts: they “did not understand about the loaves.” Their encounter with Christ on the stormy sea almost turned into a “hallucination” or a fantastic vision from the spiritual world. Yet Christ, who came to them walking on the water, was and is absolutely real. He tells them, “It is I!”
The same hardness of heart often prevents us from seeing Christ’s action and real presence in our own lives. As always, He is real. He is near, especially during the storm, when we most need His gracious help. Our task is to learn to see Him in our everyday storms, to recognize by faith His presence, which can calm any tempest and conquer death itself.
