NOTES for Luk 10:38-42

How many reasons there are for the division of people... The Gospel of Luke speaks of two sisters, Martha and Mary, receiving Christ in their home. Christ loves them both, they are both dear to Him (cf. John, ch. 11-12). But even between them a division arises, and Jesus has to intervene to reconcile them.

Only Christ grants unity to people. This is also the mystery of which the Apostle Paul writes to the Colossians — every person attains perfection in union with Jesus Christ, and through Him — in such unity with everyone, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, where everything heavenly and earthly is united under Christ the head.
