It is doubtless, that sex occupies a considerable place in human life. And it is without that it isn’t a human invention. God, who created the person as man and woman and who gave them the order: "be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth" (Gen. 1:27-28), - put in His plan for man this love connection of two: "shall be one flesh" (see Gen. 2 24; Matt. 19:5; Mk. 10:8; Eph. 5:31).
God's word speaks several times about love, not only spiritual, but also physical. There is a whole book about this love – Solomon! Why then people often consider this subject almost as sinful, why the obvious and unobvious of the ideal of Christian life moves in the monachal part, and besides not only in " the historic confessions"?
It is clear that sex is not a sin, quite as is not, let’s say food. It is man who can make it sin, quite as he can make food to be sin – sin of gluttony, to eat more than it is necessary. Sin appears there, where the purpose doesn’t correspond with God’s plan, with His will. Sex is one of the means of acquisition of unity in love between man and woman, along with other means (mutual assistance, collaboration, mutual understanding etc.) forming in such form of the human life, as marriage, that is the realization of constancy in love.
That is why the positive mention of sex in the Bible is always connected with marriage. But the fall destroys first of all in particular the presence of love in man, his aspiration to love; it is exactly here that penetrates the distortion. And the sexual sphere, being very close to the presence of love in man, suffers most. Sin substitutes the purpose of sex, reducing it into pleasure, satisfaction, so marriage stops being the only context of sex: fornication, lasciviousness, adultery appear then. What was intended by God for life, including - for the creation of life, becomes the way to death.
Thus, sex is gorgeous and blessed by God, when it is of use to the eternal union of husband and wife; sex is perdition and impure before God, when it is selfish and momentary, when it is sex for the sake of sex.
