Tell us about the understanding of love in 1 Cor. 13, and its application in life...

Speaking of love in the 13th chapter of the Epistle to the Corinthians, the apostle Paul speaks, in essence, about the Lord Jesus Christ. The apostle describes a love that can hardly be found among humanity. In most cases, our love can only partially correspond to some of the traits presented by the apostle. Christ, however, has revealed precisely this love to us in its fullness, and this is God's love toward us. Yet, the Lord has called us to love one another just as He loves us. In order for us to fulfill this, so that our love may align with the description of the apostle Paul, we need the Lord Jesus. On our own, we are incapable of loving in such a way – but if we desire it and ask for it, the Lord comes into our lives and fills our feeble love with His power. Thus, our efforts should be directed toward loving as Paul writes about it, while our faith and prayer should be directed to Christ, so that He may fulfill our aspiration and make it a reality. Furthermore, the love that Paul writes about is a gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enters a person's heart and works within it when a person loves Christ and abides in fellowship with Him.
