Matthew 27:9: "Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, 'And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel, and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord directed me.'" I found nothing similar in Jeremiah. Zechariah 11:13 has the most similar passage. However, the text of Matt. 27:9 clearly mentions Jeremiah. How do you understand this?

Most likely, this is simply an error. Either Matthew quoted from memory, or the individual who translated the Gospel of Matthew into Greek made a mistake.
