NOTES for Num 19:1-22

What matters to us in the statutes concerning ritual purity and the purification of what is unclean is that only a clean person, one who has not defiled himself by contact with uncleanness, can perform the purification, and only by means of an unblemished sacrifice that has been burned, with whose blood the Tabernacle of the Covenant was sprinkled. The apostle says that the ritual laws of purification were figures of our purification from sin (Heb 9:23). That purification, too, can be accomplished only by the One who Himself has neither sin nor blemish, being the perfect sacrifice that sanctifies all who believe in Him.
