NOTES for Psa 93

The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.
The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.
The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

We are accustomed to the idea that contemplating Creation can bring us closer to understanding the Creator. This idea is true, but it often happens that we stop at the contemplation of Creation and fail to rise to the next level. Since Creation is not equal to the Creator, there may arise a temptation to attribute to God those features of the created world that resulted from its fallen state.

But the greatness of the Creator surpasses the greatness of the universe He created. Although His majesty is expressed more than once in the pages of the Bible through images of natural cataclysms, the Lord is not only mightier than the roar of waters; He is beyond any comparison we might draw from images of the world He created.

Therefore, only what is founded upon Him Himself can be built on the one firm Foundation.
