NOTES for NumĀ 35:1-34

Among many peoples, the law of blood vengeance required the killing of the murderer's entire family. The Old Testament Law gradually restricts the rights of the avenger of blood and even protects the person who killed unintentionally. This is a long path that must lead Israel to understand that the loving God desires not the death of the sinner, but the sinner's conversion and repentance.
