What a pity that the book Wisdom of Solomon fell into the deuterocanonical. There are so many good exact statements in it.

It is evident for the authors of the Bible that human wisdom is in no way the limit of spirituality. A genuine plenitude of the spiritual life is found in the fellowship of the human spirit and the Spirit of God, His Wisdom. And here is, we read today what makes such a fellowship impossible.

In the first place, it is our deceit - when we listen to the Spirit of discipline, while in reality we look for our own profit. Hypocrisy, dishonesty in partnership - that is our deceit. And the Holy Spirit, having recognized it, leaves.

Secondly, it is when we put foremost our own wisdom, our thoughts that are without understanding, which the Bible calls irrational. Having discovered our pride, the Spirit withdraws completely from meeting with us. The third obstacle is our lying. The Holy Spirit reveals truth to us, and we know it, but we choose lie, injustice in our actions. Then the Spirit of discipline "blushes" for us and keeps silent.

Thus, pride doesn’t admit the Spirit of discipline, lie forces him to keep silent, and dishonesty – drive away.

What a pity that the Book of the Wisdom of Solomon ended up among the deuterocanonical books. How many spiritually precise statements there are in it!

For the authors of the Bible it is obvious that human wisdom is by no means the limit of spirituality. The true fullness of spiritual life is found in the fellowship of the human spirit and the Spirit of God, His Wisdom. And today we read about what makes such fellowship impossible.

First, it is our slyness, when we seem to listen to the Spirit of wisdom but in fact seek our own, our own advantage. Pretense, dishonesty in partnership: this is our slyness. And the Holy Spirit, recognizing this, withdraws. Second, it is when we put our own wisdom, our reasonings, which the Bible calls foolish, in first place. Discovering our self-exaltation, our pride, the Spirit avoids meeting us altogether. The third obstacle is our falsehood. The Holy Spirit reveals the truth to us, and we know it, but in our actions we choose untruth, unrighteousness. Then Wisdom "blushes" for us and falls silent.

So pride does not let Wisdom in, falsehood makes her silent, and dishonesty drives her away.
