NOTES for Быт 36:1-43

The genealogy of Esau and his descendants once again brings us back to the fact that Jacob's older brother truly had no desire to fight for God's blessing. He was wealthy enough to seek land far from his brother. He had a large family. But a nation of pagans descended from him. Later this nation would fight Israel more than once. These would be bloody wars from which Israel would emerge the victor. But the fate of these two peoples, who trace their beginning to twin brothers, would always unfold according to what the Lord answered their mother Rebekah (Gen. 25:21-23).
