NOTES for Th2 1:1-12
Paul’s words are severe, but are they really so cruel? He writes about the dreadful fate of those who did not accept Christ, about the terror and darkness awaiting those who reject Him. Cruel? Yet each person makes a free choice and makes it independently. He is free to accept God or to reject Him. If he rejects Him, the terror and darkness of hopelessness and emptiness will sooner or later overtake the person who voluntarily refused to accept the source of life, whatever his reasons may have been.
