45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

We can have impression that these Jesus’ words deprive us of any hope. Conscience does not allow identifying oneself as good man. And if I am a evil man, then no matter what I do, it will always "be evil", and I have nowhere to go to.
It is indeed about another thing here. Jesus speaks about the judgment" by fruits” (and not about condemnation), He lets know that, we shouldn't believe that our bad behavior means nothing, that they {these behaviors} are only external - what we say, regularly I am white and downy. He warns us of self-exculpation, He wants that by seeing our wickedness, we turn away from the evil that is inside us, and wish to change. If such a desire appears, then God can answer it, more exactly our desire to change inside, in our heart - and this is what He proposes us in His New Alliance with us.
