NOTES for Php 2:12-18
Each of us has many tasks and responsibilities. Some things we like, others we do not; some things we want to do, others we do not... The apostle Paul knew this no less well than you and I—he had to attend to all kinds of tasks. What he tells us today applies to almost any situation: “Do everything without grumbling or doubting.” What—everything? Everything. If something needs to be done, there is no point in grumbling—or, in plain language, whining and complaining. If you are doing a task, do it. But what if you doubt whether it should be done? Choose: either you act or you do not. It is pointless to walk along a road while doubting whether it is the right one. Either keep walking, and then do not doubt, or stop and check whether the road is right.
