NOTES for Lev 6:1-30
In the Mosaic law we see not only regulations for worship. It also includes criminal laws, which we partly encountered in the book of Exodus. Two things stand out in this law: God's principled refusal to accept sin, any manifestation of a lack of love, and at the same time relatively mild punishments, compared with the surrounding ancient world, and the possibility of receiving forgiveness from God.
Why, then, is the sin offering called "most holy"? After all, it would seem that sin is not the most attractive area of God's relationship with people... Apparently His forgiveness really is a great mystery: He Himself said that sin, the violation of His will, is incompatible with life, and He Himself agrees to give life to the offender again, on the condition that blood must still be shed.
